This species and the Cape Canary Serinus canicollis were considered to be one species until recently. The Cape Canary is confined to South Africa and southern Mozambique
NBN Gateway does not recognise S. flavivertex and has no British records of S. canicollis
Native Range
Africa. Patch distribution in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia and Angola.
