Africa.Sub-Saharan Africa from east to west and extending southwards to Tanzania. A different sub-species exists in southern Africa.

Conservation Status

Least Concern

British Occurrence

I can find no documented records of this species though Zooteirliste shows plenty of captive locations and so opportunities to escape.
