Resident with some altitudinal movements from Turkey eastwards to the Himalayas.

Least Concern

British Occurrence

Landguard. Suffolk, 6 June 1992. This bird sang briefly and occured at a time when several vagrants were being found. It is commonly kept as a cage-bird and is highly unlikely to leave its known range.
