Asia. India northwards and westwards into Pakistan Iran, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan and eastwards into Bangladesh, south China, Indochina and Malaysia.

1 at Landguard Bird Observatory, Suffolk on 16th May 2014 and another on 13th July 2021.

Viles (2024) draws attention to the proximity to Landguard of the port of Felixstowe and the likelihood of ship assistance for some non-native species turning up there.
