Europe and Asia. Iberia and SE France, Balkans eastwards to NE China and winters in Middle East, northern India and parts of northern Africa.

An adult in mid Wales November 1977 to February 1978. The age of the bird and the arrival time implied captive origin and there were known to be at least two, possibly four escaped birds at large at the time just across the North Sea. (BOURC 37th Report)
