aka African Collared Dove (S. roseogrisea)
Barbary Dove (Steptopelia risoria) is the name given to a domesticated form of dove, derived from the African Turtle Dove (Streptopelia roseogrisea). The latter is native to Africa and ranges from Mauretania eastwards, in a narrow band of arid scrub and desert to Somalia and Arabia.
Barbary Doves are established in New Zealand, Florida eastern Spain and the Canary Islands and elsewhere.
Least Concern
NBN atlas has 36 records as at end 2024. These are all mapped as African Collared Dove; the website does not map Barbary Dove as such but given the restricted range and non-migratory behaviour of S. roseogrisea they will never occur here naturally. Map Here.
Landguard Bird Observatory recorded an "apricot morph" Barbary Dove on 13th October 2004.
I rather think that many more Barbary Doves must be identified as Collared Doves given their strong resemblance.
There is a good account of the Barbary Dove Here
